Holy Habits

Checking in, not checking off.

As a Jesus follower, habits are supposed to create freedom, margin, rhythm: room for God to move. But have you noticed how easily that flips? Our habits get so fixed that a disruption doesn’t inconvenience us, it offends us.

And here’s the catch: you don’t have to be old to get set in your ways. Somewhere along the way, the habit that was meant to serve the relationship starts competing with it. A checklist doesn’t care if you were present. It just wants the box checked.

Checking in only happens when we actually show up.
