Sunday Nights 6:30PM - 8:15PM

YA Collective is for Young Adults who want more. Maybe you’ve aged out of youth group, maybe you’re trying to take your faith seriously for the first time, or maybe you’re still figuring out what you believe and don’t want to do that alone.
However you got here, you belong here.

This is a place where questions are welcome, honest conversations are encouraged (within healthy boundaries), and nobody is expected to have it all together. Our goal is simple: to get to know Jesus for who He really is, learn how to follow Him in everyday life, dive into the Bible, and build real relationships with people who are on the same journey. Let’s clear the air—this isn’t a cult, we’re not after your money, and we’re definitely not a pyramid scheme. We can’t promise quick fixes, instant answers, or a perfect life. What we can offer is Jesus Christ and a space to genuinely explore who He is, why we believe what we believe, and why we believe He’s the answer for a broken world. If you’re willing to show up, ask questions, and be open, we’re ready to walk this journey with you.

Praying Like Monks, Living Like Fools – Chapter 10
"The Narrow Road"

Icebreaker
"Road Trip Choices"
Imagine you're driving somewhere with friends.
Which route would you choose?
  • The fastest route
  • The most scenic route
  • The safest route
  • The route with the best food stops

Ask yourself this question: Have you ever chosen the easier path in life only to realize later it wasn't the better path?

Key Theme
Following Jesus is not about choosing the easiest path—it's about choosing the path that leads to life. The narrow road requires surrender, intentionality, and daily obedience, but it is also the place where we experience true freedom, joy, and intimacy with God. Prayer keeps us on that road when the world constantly invites us to take easier detours.

Key Verse:
"Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction... But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it."
— Matthew 7:13–14

Big Ideas
1. Jesus Never Promised the Easy Road
Our culture tells us:
  • Follow your heart.
  • Do what makes you happy.
  • Take the path of least resistance.
Jesus says something very different.
The narrow road often requires:
  • Saying no to yourself.
  • Forgiving people who don't deserve it.
  • Loving difficult people.
  • Trusting God when life doesn't make sense.
  • Remaining faithful when no one else is.
Prayer strengthens us to keep walking when discipleship becomes costly.

Ask yourself this question:
When have you experienced following Jesus being difficult?

2. Prayer Keeps Us on the Right Path
Nobody accidentally drifts toward holiness.
We naturally drift toward:
  • Comfort
  • Convenience
  • Selfishness
  • Busyness
  • Sin
Prayer continually reorients our hearts back toward Jesus.
Think of prayer like recalculating your GPS.
Every day we wander.
Every day Jesus lovingly says,
"This way."
Scripture
Psalm 119:105
"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path."

3. The Narrow Road Is About Relationship, Not Rule-Keeping
Sometimes Christians think the narrow road means trying harder.
Actually...
The narrow road means staying close to Jesus.
Christianity isn't:
"I have to obey."
It's: "I get to follow Someone who loves me."
Prayer isn't another spiritual task.
It's walking with Jesus throughout your day.

4. Every Small Decision Shapes Our Direction
Rarely do people wake up one morning and decide to walk away from God.
It usually happens one small compromise at a time.
Likewise...
Faithfulness happens through small daily choices:
  • Choosing forgiveness.
  • Choosing prayer.
  • Choosing Scripture.
  • Choosing honesty.
  • Choosing worship.
  • Choosing humility.
Tiny decisions become lifelong direction.

5. The Destination Makes the Journey Worth It
The narrow road isn't difficult because God enjoys making life hard.
It's difficult because it leads somewhere beautiful.
Jesus isn't trying to keep us from joy.
He's leading us to real joy.
Temporary comfort often competes with eternal life.
Prayer helps us keep eternity in view.

Dive Deeper
Read Matthew 7:13–14 together.
  1. Why do you think Jesus describes following Him as the "narrow road"?
  2. Where do you see our culture encouraging people to take the "wide road"?
  3. What makes the narrow road difficult for young adults today?
  4. Have you ever experienced choosing obedience over comfort? What happened?
  5. What distractions most often pull you away from Jesus?
  6. How does prayer help keep you spiritually grounded?
  7. What's one area where God might be inviting you to greater surrender?
  8. Which "small daily choice" do you think has the biggest long-term impact on spiritual growth?
  9. What fears make it difficult to fully trust Jesus?

Ask yourself and reach out if you like:
How can this group help one another stay on the narrow road?

Reflection Activity "Road Signs"
On a notecard or a blank piece of paper.
On one side write:
"What is pulling me toward the wide road?"
Examples:
  • Pride
  • Comparison
  • Social media
  • Relationships
  • Anxiety
  • Success
  • Comfort
  • Approval
  • Entertainment
On the other side write:
"What invitation is Jesus giving me?"
Examples:
  • Trust Me
  • Forgive
  • Slow down
  • Rest
  • Be generous
  • Pray daily
  • Read Scripture
  • Love your neighbor
  • Stay faithful
Take several minutes of silent prayer.

Invite everyone to ask:
"Jesus, where are You inviting me to follow You more closely?"

Closing Prayer
Jesus,
Thank You for inviting us onto the road that leads to life. We confess that we often choose comfort over obedience and convenience over surrender. Draw our hearts back to You each day. Help us recognize the distractions that pull us away and give us courage to follow You, even when the path is difficult. Let prayer become more than something we do—let it become the way we walk with You every day. Keep our eyes fixed on You, trusting that Your way is always the way to true life. Amen.
